
Having just made a clean sweep of the 17th Annual WAMI (West Australian Music Industry) Awards, Birds Of Tokyo drop in to the Central Coast on their way home from Splendour. The date, Wednesday July 29 at the Entrance Leagues Club.
The quartet were nominated for five awards, winning them all including;

The wins concrete the already impressive past 10 months since the release of their sophomore album Universes in July 2008.

This upcoming July 2009 issue of Reverb will mark our 3rd year in print, and to celebrate, we have booked the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday 18th July and will be hosting the best birthday party imaginable. Headlining the night for us will be Leader Cheetah, with The Seabellies, The Tunstalls and Fear of Monsters in support. A crowd of 95% female, 5% very patient boyfriends braved this wet and chilly Thursday night, all to take in the spectacle that is the PCD. Having Lady Ga Ga open for you must be daunting. She was brutal, aggressive, and totally dominated the stage. Proudly displaying her g-stringed and fish-netted arse to the audience, she lapped up the attention. Wearing a skin coloured bodysuit wrapped in plastic bubbles, she began ‘Poker Face’ quietly behind a piano before it erupted into deep beats. Her set was way too short.

Former Screaming Jets guitarist Grant Walmsley, opened the night with his blend of roots and blues based music. As the crowd slowly grew larger they warmed to his efforts, which included stomping on the smallest kick drum I have ever seen, whilst effortlessly playing slide guitar and singing.
