Hailing from a cultural mix that takes in both the ACT and the NSW South Coast, Ashleigh Mannix has recently emerged as a bright young singer/ songwriter and natural solo performer, who is consistently embraced by fans, peers and audiences alike, both locally and overseas.

Ashleigh picked up her first guitar at the age of 11, a few years later adding to this musical experience with her own voice. In the years that followed Ashleigh has molded her musical self and soul, writing, travelling largely solo, and, in particular with her dynamic live performances. She has created an expanding library of songs that channel her disarming honesty and a warm charisma that infects and leaves audiences all over converted.
A unique relationship with global surf company Billabong has allowed Ashleigh to independently pursue her musical ambitions as far as she can, winning audiences in Australia, US, UK, Hawaii, Europe, Fiji and Japan, performing at surfing competitions, events and music festivals.
Ashleigh’s musical pursuit also led her to form a creative partnership with renowned producer TimE bandit Powles, (the church, iOTA) beginning with the production on her debut EP, aptly titled ‘My First EP’. The result has been a stunning and eclectic debut, more of a compact album than an EP. Released in Australia through MGM, ‘My First EP’ shines and smoulders from start to end. Both youthful and rootsy beyond her years, Ashleigh’s voice has centre stage, with all the accompanying instruments and arrangements taking a tasteful 2nd place, including her own nifty acoustic guitar. Recorded quickly, and full of spontaneity and exuberance, this recording invites endless repeated listening. It’s a mini classic from one of Australia’s most promising artists.
“Ashleigh Mannix has all the ingredients to be a successful singer-songwriter” – Sunday Telegraph
Currently exploring new music with guitarist and writing partner Richie Harris, Ashleigh is looking forward to recording her debut album early next year. In the mean time Newcastle audiences will have their first look at Ashleigh when she performs at The Northern Star Hotel on December 10th.
