What begins with a pulse reminiscent to Radiohead, Awesome Color throws you into a swirl of multi-colour psychedelia, a sound that pushes boundaries yet sounds surprisingly familiar. I kept hearing influences that are totally unrelated, early 90s grunge, Mars Volta freak, 70’s Grand Funk stomp, and it felt so comfortable together. What underpins is all is a rock and roll stomp that holds it all together. ‘Burning’ is driving rocker with a stoner rock swirl that has to be played loud, and the opening track Eyes of Light is ferocious. Though the final few tracks wane, this release is a wonderful surprise to find. Expect a tour in the New Year.
