HEAD OF STATE are about to challenge themselves like never before… record 23 songs in 2 days!
Focusing on a raw sound, live tracking, and volume, they hope to deliver an opus that will include every song they have written in one package. Having been around on the Newcastle and Sydney music scene for the last 5 years without any prominent release, HEAD OF STATE decided it was time to deliver their potential.
Recording will commence Friday night at Jungle Sounds in Newcastle with Dean Glass behind the mixing desk. Dean was responsible for their first ever demo (which sold 500 copies independantly in 2003/2004) and also the recording of “Realize” for a filmclip sponsorship HEAD OF STATE won in 2007.
HEAD OF STATE hopes that the urgency of the session to get the tracks down will be reflected in the recording, hoping for a raw, live and loud sound.
Ty Brennock (bass) said of the choice to go with Dean again, “When Dean delivered a broadcast quality recording in a day for the clip, we knew he was up for a bigger challenge… 23 songs in 2 days! We have recorded with other people before, but the comfort level with Dean is perfect, and he knows exactly want we want from the sessions.”
The sessions not only focus on a retrospect of their entire catalogue, but a revamping of the songs, sometimes not been played live in years. Ty continues, “It will sound like a package, an album, as opposed to a whole bunch of single songs from different period of the band. It will flow like a live set, and I think people will be pleasantly surprised with how we have changed up the old ones.”
