In a truly original and magical concert setting, acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter, Lior will tour Australia with his innovative 2009 ‘Shadows and Light’ national tour. Launching in Perth on February 26, this unique concert experience will feature a stunning visual collaboration that combines beautiful and moving shadow artistry with Lior’s spectacular vocals and music.
Lior will be performing songs from his two hugely successful albums, Autumn Flow and Corner of an Endless Road, alongside guest performers the Tailem String Quartet.
Of this tour, Lior says, “’Shadows and Light’ is about the culmination of the most artistically inspiring elements and collaborations that I’ve enjoyed over the past year, since the release of Corner of an Endless Road. Given this will be the final tour before I commence work on my third album, I wanted to depart from the live arena with something that is a real highlight.”
A truly special element of this national tour is the collaboration between Lior and the renowned shadow artists, Stephen Mushin and Anna Parry. Mushin and Parry’s shadow projected sets have been specifically designed to accompany and interact with Lior and will feature in a live performance by the artists themselves at each venue, excluding Margaret River in WA, Darwin and Canberra.
Says Lior, “musically, performing with the Tailem String Quartet has been a real highlight, while visually, teaming up with shadow artists Stephen Mushin and Anna Parry on the ‘I’ll Forget You’ video clip was equally inspiring. With these shows, I wanted to do more than just present the songs, rather create a live magical world for the audience to slip into, one where the songs and the live shadow art performance become one”.
Renowned for his stunning voice, incredible musicality and acclaimed live shows, Lior has received several ARIA nominations since his debut in 2005.In fact, his stunning debut independent and self-financed album, Autumn Flow went Gold, making it one of the most successful independent debut releases by an Australian artist. Lior’s second and most recent album, Corner of an Endless Road was released in February 2008 and debuted at #2 on the Australian album charts and #2 on iTunes. It held the top spot on the independent charts for several weeks. It was followed by a sold out national tour.
Lior has recently returned from performing with some of Australia’s best at the “Australia Plays Broadway” concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, as part of the G’Day USA: Australia Week 2009.
The 2009 ‘Shadows and Light’ tour will be the last Australian tour for Lior before he commences recording his third album and touring the United States and Europe, which will include performing at the entire season of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009.
