As Rage or X-Factor fans should know, the heated fight for No. 1 on the UK Christmas billboards is on.
For the last 4 years, X-Factor has finished its few weeks before, and as you guessed, typically take number one on the charts with whatever single the producer tells them to perform. Not only lazy, but usually crap!
Facebook, a revolution, well for RATM anyway. We are talking about the young UK lad, who started a campaign to not let the X-Factor winners cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” hit No. 1. But instead he rebelled with a hard-hitting, lyrically explicit all-time hit. Killing in the Name Of by the eyebrow-raising Rage Against the Machine.
According to figures reported last night by The Official Charts Company, Killing In The Name is beating The Climb by 65,000 copies. Sadly, though, a mega-shipment of McElderry’s single is about to hit stores. X-Factor figurehead Simon Cowell has told The Daily Star newspaper, “We’ve got half a million singles going out. Joe will be Number One.”
Regardless of the possible influx of a man singing a teenage girl’s song, Tom Morello (RATM Guitarist) has commented to a few news outlets, saying he’s absolutely chuffed with the idea and increase in sales. Morello has also happily donated all his recent profits from the track to a charity which enables disadvantaged children to get involved with music.
Long live RATM?
