Every year the business community of Newcastle’s Beaumont Street close the street to traffic and open their doors for an outdoor fare for family’s to feast & shop. Once again the folks at The Northern Star hotel have put together an awesome line-up of live entertainment, who’ll take to the special outdoor stage adjacent to the hotel and perform for music lovers of all ages.

Headlining the event on March 15 is one of Australia’s favourite blues performers ASH GRUNWALD. Ash is no stranger to Newcastle audiences having sold out concerts here on numerous occasions but this will be his first performance in town since the release of his latest album ‘Fish Out of Water’ which has gone one to high praise with Melbourne’s Age giving the album 4 ½ stars and Rolling Stone calling it a “warm, soulful gem”. The first single from the release “Devil Called Me a Liar” secured a #50 spot in Triple J’s top songs for 2008 and has secured Grunwald a legion of new fans. Currently touring the snow fields of Canada Grunwald will return to Australia for just 3 shows before heading off to wow them in the UK & Europe, so the St Patrick’s Day Fare will be local fans last chance to see Ash perform for some time.

Sharing the stage with Ash Grunwald will be some of Newcastle’s finest acts and performers. Kicking off the festivities will be the ska-tinged pop of Rubix Cuba who are getting set to release a full length album featuring guest performances by Jazz legend James Morrison & industry icon, drummer Nic Cicere.

Another performer taking his music to the street will be Bob Corbett. Winning no less than 6 gongs at the ABC Music Awards in 2008 Corbett will no doubt have plenty of fans front and centre when he straps on the guitar on Beaumont St.

Former Screaming Jet Grant Walmsley and his band The Agents of Peace are also set to perform at this year’s event, warming up the crowd with their own blend of stomping grooves & cruisy blues.

With such a wonderful line-up and atmosphere there’s only one place to spend the afternoon on March 15 and that’s Beaumont St next to the Northern Star Hotel. The outdoor stage is all ages and the entertainment is free.>
