When The Prodigy emerged from Britain’s underground rave culture in 1990, their impression on the public was one of shock and awe. Fast-forward 19 years and the trio’s sound is still powerful, packing an almighty punch. They even proved on 2009’s Big Day Out tour that they’re still a live force to be reckoned with. New songs like ‘Omen’ sizzle with primal rhythms and anthemic lyrics. But while the group may have been ahead of their time in the early 90s, Invaders Must Die doesn’t seem quite as deliciously terrifying as it would have two decades ago. While this fifth album will be embraced by fans, many will hope that The Prodigy take us further into the future with their next effort. 3.5/5 Nick Milligan
